Hong-Kong-based water and wastewater treatment solutions provider Sound Global has been awarded a contract to build a sewage treatment project in Lishu County, China.
The project, to be implemented under a build, operate and transfer (BOT) basis, is designed to have a long-term capacity of 25,000 m3/d and short-term daily treatment capacity of 12,500m³ a day.
The company will invest RMB55m ($8.97m) in the project and will adopt improved AAO technique for sewage treatment.
Water quality after treatment is designed to meet A Standard of First Grade set out in the "Discharge Standard of Pollutants for Municipal Sewage Treatment Plants.
The company said that construction of the project will be of great significance to the sustainable development of Lishu County.
Sound Global chairman Wen Yibo said that upon completion of the project, local sewage discharge and treatment issues will be effectively addressed, which will not only boost economic development in the area, but also have great significance to environmental protection and efficient utilisation of water resources, thus ensuring the achievement of the environmental protection objective set for the Liaohe River region.
